In 1960, the release of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho would inspire exploitation director Herschell Gordon Lewis. Known Primarily for his "Nudie Cuties" films, Lewis decided to push the boundaries of acceptable cinematic destruction and pioneered a new genre of terror that would thrill audiences and serve as the catalyst for Mary Whitehouse's puritanical crusade against depravity.
